We hold the keys to the future....

The children in dance club performed their fantastic routine, 'I Believe' at the Gateshead Schools Dance Festival yesterday. We were all very excited (and a little nervous) to perform on stage at The Sage and put on a truly amazing performance! We looked fantastic in our costumes, complete with face paint and glamorous hair dos!

Make sure you pick up a copy of this evening's Chronicle to see our picture in the paper! A massive congratulations to the children in Dance Club for bringing the house down yesterday, and a big thank you to parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles and friends who came to support us.

Come and join our new Zumba class - this is for parents and other adults as well as children! Even some of the staff are going to join in!!!

Today in Eco Club we sold the vegetables that we planted in April. We sold lettuce, onions and potatoes and made £23.40 and we are going to put it to good use next year. Our carrots and cabbages are looking very healthy but will not be ready until the autumn. We look forward to seeing you early next term for another vegetable sale.  Ella Crawley Year 4

In Eco Club we have been been busy designing and building a bug hotel out of logs and other things to attract minibeasts and other creatures. we hope to see wood lice and worms and all sorts of living things. 

Last night we also watched one of the chicks being born in reception class.

The Eco Warriors are busy tending to their crops!

Last Thursday, the Eco Warriors were eagerly awaiting the visit from the Eco Schools Assessor to find out if we would qualify for The Green Flag. The Green Flag is awarded to schools that are actively adapting a greener approach to living. The Eco Warriors and all children at St Peters have been working very hard on a whole host of initiatives. Since we have returned from the Easter holidays they have planted a variety of vegetables in our new planters in the junior yard and they have all pledged to do something to support eco issues and the environment. Mr Adey, the Eco Assessor was so impressed with all the wonderful things we have been doing and said we had passed with 'flying colours'.
We can't wait to fly the flag!

Today, in the sunshine, Year 5 Eco-Warriors have started planting in the Spiritual Garden. We have planted peas, onions and potatoes and, hopefully, we will be harvesting a bumper crop later this year!

Yesterday, Thursday 19th March, Mrs McArthur and the eco warriors visited Mrs Heslop's allotment at Whinney Park. Mrs Heslop showed us around her allotment and explained to us all the different types of vegetables and plants that she grows. We all managed to do a bit of digging and planting of our own!
We will be visiting regularly over the summer months as we all know how beneficial growing our own produce is. Not only does it taste much better but it reduces our carbon footprint and growing our own is great fun at the same time!

Some children from Years 4, 5 and 6 took part in the Gateshead Dance Festival held at the Sage on 10th March 2009. All of the children worked hard before and after school to put together their routine. They performed 'St Peter's does High School Musical' excellently and their hard worked paid off as their performance was perfect and we were all extremely proud of the effort they had put in!  

Congratualtions to the French club for hosting a brilliant French Breakfast morning on Friday 28th March! The event was enjoyed by everyone and over 70 chocolate croissants were sold as well as other delicious foods such as toast, cheese and crackers and baguettes. Everyone who attended the event commented on the excellent French spoken by our Year Five French club and the French club themselves were very impressed by how many children tried to order their breakfast in French! The morning was a huge success and we hope to follow it up with another morning for the whole school to enjoy! Once again a big thankyou to everyone who attended and supported the morning. The Year Five French club have had their heads down working very hard to prepare for the French Breakfast morning. The morning will be held at 8:30 till 9am in the school hall on Friday the 28th of March for all of Key Stage Two (sorry Key Stage One, we hope to hold a one for you later in the school year!) so come along and ask for your breakfast in French! Check out the menus in your class for prices and don't forget to look at the posters that tell you how to ask for food in French!

Just to remind you that all after-school clubs (including Miss Callow's guitar group) will be cancelled on Monday 3rd March because of Parents' Evening. All other clubs will run as usual.

Miss Callow's guitar group will also be cancelled on Monday 10th March but will recommence on Monday 17th March.
