SATs Week Breakfast for Year 6 children

breakfast1.jpg

All children in Year 6 have been invited to attend a special breakfast club each morning of SATs week. This will give you all a chance to eat together with friends and set you up for the day ahead!

Unfortunately, other year groups and/or brothers/sisters/parents are unable to attend as this is a special treat for the 'hard-working' Year 6 children!

Breakfast will be served from 8.30 am in our School Hall. Mrs Lawson has offered to do some 'warm-up' exercises (brain training!) just before 9.00 am.

I know you have all worked extremely hard this year and hope that Breakfast Club will be helpful for you this week!

Good Luck everyone and Bon Appetit!

Lenten Prayers - Week 3

This prayer session was led by Rosie, Yasaman and Sarah G and was based on the theme of 'Love, Trust and Thanks'. The girls chose a prayer for each part of their theme and also had time for participation alongside silent prayers. Rosie wrote her own prayer on Thanks (see below) and the reflective music played was 'Fields of Gold' and 'Autumn Leaves' both sung by Eva Cassidy.

Well done girls - a lot of thought and work has gone into this!

Lenten Prayer - Week 1

Prayer to make Poverty History

Christ our Lord,
Your light shines into the shadows,
And shows us where the obstacles to change lie,
We know that often they are in our own hearts,
In the way we live, and in our daily choices and actions,
We pray that we may accept the light of your love
as a challenge to change ourseves and our world.
We pray that, each day,
We make the choices and take the actions
that will bring and end to poverty and hunger,
And lead us all towards a fairer world.
Be with us, Lord,
as we face your challenge
and learn to live our lives in love.
Amen

FAVOURITE MEAL

Pizza

My favourite meal is pizza.

I love the mouth-watering melted cheese especially when the cheese is stringing like an elastic band.

Chopped tomato with beautiful, tasty sauce all soft and chewy.

You know your getting before it is anywhere to be seen.

Pizza is very popular food and most kids love it!

By Stephen Carr

FAVOURITE MEAL

Sunday Dinner!

My favourite food is a Sunday dinner. Sunday dinner has long, thin carrots dripping in gravy. Sunday dinner has fresh broccoli sitting on the plate. It also includes delicious meat and by its side are mouth-watering Yorkshire puddings.

When you taste Sunday dinner your taste buds will explode!
The taste of this meal is so amazing you can not describe it.

The smell of Sunday dinner is fantastic. You can smell the delicious gravy a mile away!

By Beth Rutledge

FAVOURITE MEAL

SPAGHETTI BOLOGNESE

My favourite meal is spaghetti-bolognese. I love the divine taste; the smell is so delicious you can smell the mince and the tomato sauce cooking in the pan. The mince goes on the top and the spaghetti goes on the bottom. It goes well with grated cheddar cheese sprinkled on the top.

When I take a bite out of it I feel like I am in heaven. The spaghetti looks like long strands of blonde hair all piled up on your plate and the meat looks like little lumps of meat. It fills you up so much you won’t want any pudding. You can get spaghetti-Bolognese at all Italian restaurants but it is best to have it homemade. Why don’t you try it?

By Emily Lavin.

FAVOURITE MEAL

Shepherds Pie

My favourite meal is definitely shepherds pie. It has a thick, creamy layer of soft, warm mashed potato on top a bed of delectable mince, which smells so outstandingly amazing I feel as if as I’m taking a bite of heaven.

It looks like a lovely, dazzling bunch of buttercups packed together tightly on your plate. It is a garden of golden yellow snow with grated cheese sprinkled ever so lightly all over.

It makes you feel warm and cosy, like a heat in a click cushion resting gently on your tongue. When you’ve eaten it all up your tummy doesn’t feel empty anymore, it feels extremely happy and delightfully full. I don’t know how I’d cope without shepherd's pie!

It makes me who I am!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE SHEPHERDS PIE!!!

By Sarah Burgess

FAVOURITE MEAL

Curry

I love curry because it is so beautiful and it is the best food in the world.
There are all sorts of curries in the world for example a madras, a masala, a vindaloo and the hottest in the world ….a phal! There are different curries in the world to; you can get a blue one, a purple one
and even a pink one. A phal is the hottest in the world and if you tried it
you would have to have 10 bottles of water! It’s the most expensive curry in the world. The madras and the masala are more on the cheaper side and it is a very mild curry. Curry is the most popular food in the world and you can get it in nearly every country in the world. It’s so delicious you will love it.

Sam Fraser

FAVOURITE MEAL

Sunday Dinner

My favourite meal would have to be Sunday dinner. With a Sunday dinner you have so many things to choose from and they’re all on one plate, like chopped carrots gleaming like the sun. Also there is crispy roast potatoes coated exquisite thick gravy.

Most people would have chicken with a Sunday dinner however you could have any other meat like pork or beef! (Or you don’t have to have any meat at all)

It smells so delectable! And that wonderful smell flows around the house all day, making it irresistible not to eat.

I love Sunday dinner, do you?

By Hannah Davison.

FAVOURITE FOOD

Spaghetti

My favourite food is spaghetti. It looks quite similar to string, but it has more of a golden colour. Spaghetti smells almost like bread and what I think is special and unique about it is how you can make it taste so different simply by adding sauce, herbs or butter! Although it’s soft and has a lovely texture, it can be quite plain unless you put something on top.

Spaghetti is especially nice when it’s steaming hot and if you put butter on it fizzes as it melts into the spaghetti. You can have it on it’s own of with something. When you’ve got a forkful and you put it in your mouth, you can taste the topping as equally as the spaghetti, so it’s a perfect combination with many foods. Spaghetti originally came from Italy and is now eaten throughout the world. I find spaghetti like a sensational slice of heaven, but do you?

FAVOURITE MEAL

Shepherds Pie

My favourite meal is Shepherds Pie.

The reason I enjoy it so much is the texture is soft and creamy.

Eventhough I don’t like cheese, I love it on top of the Shepherds Pie, it adds an extra flavour to it.

When it comes out of the oven it smells amazing, it fills the entire room with a glorious aroma.

Shepherds Pie looks delightful, it would be a sight for sore eyes!

The best type of Shepherds Pie is home made.

A meal for all the family is of course Shepherds Pie. The question is do you like it?

By Sarah Gascoigne

FAVOURITE MEAL

Pizza

Pizza is my favourite food, I eat it all the time, the taste of the bread and the tomato, cheese and all the creamy toppings. I like pizza because it’s so thick with its creamy, chewy cheese. At school I have it every Tuesday,
When I eat it I get addicted and need more! Now that’s what I call food!
I love my food and will always like PIZZA, I also like making it and baking it….. it’s so fun and easy.
Kerry Gibson

FAVOURITE MEAL

Sunday Dinner

My favourite meal is Sunday Dinner because it smells lovely and fresh.

The taste of it is so wonderful! When the gravy flows down your throat it feels like a waterfall. The Yorkshire puddings are crunchy however, with gravy it softens up.

The appearance is lovely. The potatoes are fluffy and soft. The carrots are warm but hard, you have to crunch your way through them however, they are delicious!

Sunday dinner’s aroma is to die for! The smell is mouth-watering. When you take it out the oven your entire family will rush into the kitchen!

Do you think you’ll enjoy Sunday Dinner?

By Sally Saint

FAVOURITE MEAL

Sunday Dinner

My favourite meal is Sunday Dinner.

The smell is mouth-watering like a delicious perfume spreading all around.

It looks so lovely with the meaty gravy draped all over the wonderful, crunchy carrots, sweet, mushy peas and soft mashed potato like an edible curtain. Not to mention the scrumptious Yorkshire puddings which are fluffy and light just like a cloud.

Sunday dinner is special because you only eat it once a week. That’s better because it makes you savour the taste and enjoy the next one even more!

However you could never find such quality or taste at a restaurant or pub, only my grandma can make it so perfect like that.

To sum it all up Sunday Dinner is such a great combination of flavours it’s like heaven in your mouth. I wish I could eat it every day. That is why Sunday Dinner is my favourite meal. I couldn’t live without it!

Would you like to eat this meal?

By Shelby Davison.

FAVOURITE MEAL

MAM’S PASTA DISH

My favourite meal is my mum’s unique and exclusive pasta sauce!
I love this meal so much because it is filled with remarkable flavours, textures and healthy ingredients. There are tomatoes and chicken and mushrooms which give this dish a really distinctive flavour and taste.

There is nothing like my mum’s pasta, and I’m sure if you’ve never tried it you will really adore it. I would describe this dish as a flavour and colour explosion, which will make you see food in a completely different way.

When I smell the cooking of this masterpiece I smell garlic bread with a hint of parmesan and also the spices and the herbs of the tomato sauce.
Can you smell it too?

Another great thing about this dish is that you can have it with anything like fish, beef and lots more. This is the dish you should try!
