Tasty Delights in Year 3, future Jamie / Delias perhaps?
We had great fun in Numeracy last week, taking inspiration from the ancient Egyptians and building some super pyramids. We had to estimate how many multilink cubes we would need, and then count them, grouping them into five. They looked super! It was very fiddley, and the multilink cubes kept falling apart. It must have been a lot more challenging to build the real thing!

Today in Eco Club we sold the vegetables that we planted in April. We sold lettuce, onions and potatoes and made £23.40 and we are going to put it to good use next year. Our carrots and cabbages are looking very healthy but will not be ready until the autumn. We look forward to seeing you early next term for another vegetable sale. Ella Crawley Year 4
All of our super fit juniors completed the Tesco Great School run today in the glorious sunshine at Saltwell Park!
We had a massive warm up with all of the other schools, then the race began. We set off in groups, boys then girls in each year group! It was exhausting but lots of fun!

On Tuesday 15th June we celebrated our whole school Green Day. Each child came to school dressed in something green and participated in a wide range of eco activities. We were so lucky to have two outside agencies in school. 'Twottodo' worked with the children making table top scarecrows, bugs and puppets. 'Zoo Lab' ran workshops for each class. The infants looked at how nature naturally recyles and the juniors learnt all about biodiversity. All the children took part in treasure hunts across both school yards. Everyone had so much fun! Please join us in the school hall
on Wednesday 16th June at 3.15pm to look at what your child made and to view photographs of the day.

We will be visiting each other's schools in June and July and then hold a celebration event on July 19th in our school hall where the art will be unveiled!!
Year 3 thoroughly enjoyed the recent topic about the Groovy Greeks. The children have produced a display of the Trojan Horse and have written their version of the myth so they now understand the saying 'Beware of Greeks bearing gifts'. They learned about Greek Myths and Legends and enjoyed all the 'gory bits'. The children completed lots of research themselves on the computer and found out that the Ancient Greeks are still influencing our lives today in words, theatre and architecture.
The preparations for the Easter Extravaganza in school are well underway in Year 2. We have been making a range of lovely crafts to go on display to show off our creative talents.
We have been sewing, cutting, sticking and colouring and the effects have been beautiful!

The older children began their explanation by showing their younger counterparts what they needed to use in the creation of their circuits. This really helped all involved to see how much they understood about our recent topic!
The Year 2 children then showed their friends in Reception how to connect the circuit together, taking care to use the right vocabulary so that they would understand.
Once our clever Year 2 children had made their bulb light up, they then supported their younger partners in making their own circuit. Everyone was pleased when the bulb lit up!
James in Year 2 has just completed a sponsored trampoline jump to raise funds for some extra 'Golden Time' equipment. James asked Mr Campbell if the money could be put towards a Guitar Hero package. Having raised an amazing £153:41, we are planning to buy two guitar packs for some fantastic multiplayer fun! The whole school is very grateful to James for his wonderful efforts, if you get a chance say "Thank you". Listen out for Friday afternoon rock music in the school hall, shortly after half term!
James, Luke and Lucy bouncing their way to 'Guitar Hero' heaven!
Yesterday was a very exciting day in Year 2 as we finally (after much eager anticipation) received our delivery from the 'Living Eggs' programme. 'Living Eggs' is a scheme that allows children to monitor chicks from their time in their eggs and incubator to when they hatch. We are so pleased our eggs are here!

Our new Year 2 class have settled back into school with no problems and have been working very hard, much to the pleasure of their teacher Mrs Toward.
On Wednesday the 2nd of July Year 2 accompanied by Miss Heal, Mrs Crawley, Mrs Daly, Mrs Hearne, Miss Gray and Jonathan Burn all travelled to Whitehouse farm in Northumberland. We had an excellent day and saw lots of lovely animals, we fed them, petted them and even held some of them! The weather was kind to us and everyone enjoyed themselves!
St Peter and St Paul - 29th June
Year 2 really helped us to celebrate our Saint's Feast Day at our weekly Tuesday Assembly. The children talked about both St Peter and St Paul and even had a poem about the two disciples. We sang 'Peter was a Fisherman' and some children did a small role play to show us the meaning behind the words.
What a wonderful assembly - Thank you Year2!
Year 2 (and Alfie from Year 1!) took part in a multi skills activity day at Cardinal Hume school this afternoon and had a wonderful time! We took three teams of 10 with us and took part in lots of activities that showed off our various skills in P.E.
Barnaby travelled to three different continents in the half term holiday. Thank you to all three families who took him with them and sent in some lovely photographs to show everybody!
Year 2 are travelling the world this term with Barnaby Bear! Barnaby is a bear who enjoys travelling and visiting different places. So far, we have read stories about him travelling to Australia and found out about all of the exciting things that he did whilst he was there.
We then thought about what he'd need to take with him when he travelled and packed a suitcase for him, after that, we wrote a postcard from him telling everybody all about what he had been doing.
