We have been very busy working on Non Fiction writing in Literacy. The Year 1 children know that an acrostic is a form of writing in which the first letter of each line spells out a word or a message.
We couldn't resist using our 'Beside the Seaside' topic to help us with ideas.
See if you can spot the hidden word...

On Tuesday 15th June we celebrated our whole school Green Day. Each child came to school dressed in something green and participated in a wide range of eco activities. We were so lucky to have two outside agencies in school. 'Twottodo' worked with the children making table top scarecrows, bugs and puppets. 'Zoo Lab' ran workshops for each class. The infants looked at how nature naturally recyles and the juniors learnt all about biodiversity. All the children took part in treasure hunts across both school yards. Everyone had so much fun! Please join us in the school hall
on Wednesday 16th June at 3.15pm to look at what your child made and to view photographs of the day.
Year 1!
We will soon be interviewing members of our class for their thoughts on our termly topic - 'Beside The Seaside.'
Watch this space for your contribution!
Miss Swales x
This year's KS1 nativity was excellent as always! The story was all about a star who had lost his shine but found it again when he saw Jesus in the manger. Thank you to all staff for their hard work and to all of the children who sang, spoke, acted and danced with gusto!!!
Here are a few nativity photos for you to enjoy!
What little angels they are!
Kings and camels had to travel a long way in the dark!
and so did the shepherds and sheep!
...they certainly were stars and the whole of Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 shone!
Reception children had great fun making pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. Groups of children worked enthusiastically with Miss Alcock and Miss Clay to produce delicious pancakes for all.
The children learnt about the significance of Shrove Tuesday and know that it is a time when people used up their left over food before the beginning of Lent.
It is true Spring has arrived in Low Fell .............we think. In Reception we took advantage of the beautiful sunshine and went outside into our prayer garden.

In Reception we have been exploring melting and freezing different materials.
Every Monday in Reception we will be bringing home a book bag. Each book bag contains a story and activity sheet. This book bag is an activity for all the family to enjoy. Please make sure that you return all of the contents on Friday and don't forget to make a comment about how you all found the activities. If any parents would like to offer a helping hand on a Friday afternoon to help change the worksheets in the book bags please pop into school and have a word with Mrs Brand. We hope you enjoy your book bags !
In Reception we have been reflecting upon our first Spring topic of 'Celebrations'. We began with a party! We remembered our personal celebrations like our birthdays and Christmas and discussed the celebration of Mass at church. We concluded our topic with a prayerful and reflective Liturgy in our classroom.
