Winning Team - St Oswald
Year 5 led a very interesting and colourful Liturgy based on the harvest. the children read, sang and prayed together with parents using the harvest produce brought into school by the children as a focal area.
Children nominated an elderly person in their family or street and delivered the harvest parcel once it had been assembled.
The remainder of the food was sent to Hawkesbury House a local care home where we have developed excellent links throughout the last few years. Our head boy and girl were great ambassadors as they delivered the harvest produce to the residents.
This week's Statement is:
I understand that rights match responsibility.
To raise money for CAFOD we decided to have a sweet treat. Everyone who wanted to, brought in a donation and decorated a biscuit. Well done to everyone who took part, we know the money will help those less fortunate than ourselves!
Altogether we raised a superb £140.00 !!
This week's Statement is:
I can laugh and have fun.
Our school councillors have been elected for the new academic year by their classmates. The council also includes our Head Boy and Girl. They have all had their first meeting where they discussed rewards for 'Golden Time' after they had consulted all the members of their class. They also emptied and discussed ideas in the school suggestion box!
Members were elected to posts within the council such as Chairperson and Secretary. The council reported back to the whole school during assembly on Friday.
Well done to all members and keep up the good work!
"I would like to be a successful school councillor this year by listening to other people and taking ideas on. I will try to make this a special year for our school and try to make it the happiest school in Gateshead and fun aswell!" (Year 6 School Councillor)

I can say how I feel.
Our new Reception Class have settled in so well at St Peter's - we are very proud of them!
Here are some pictures to show you all of the things they have been doing in their first week.
Mrs Clarke and Mrs Crawley would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to the parents and children of St. Peter's for all of the kind comments and lovely cards and presents that we have received. Wishing you all good luck for the future, we'll miss you.
St Peter and St Paul - 29th June
Year 2 really helped us to celebrate our Saint's Feast Day at our weekly Tuesday Assembly. The children talked about both St Peter and St Paul and even had a poem about the two disciples. We sang 'Peter was a Fisherman' and some children did a small role play to show us the meaning behind the words.
What a wonderful assembly - Thank you Year2!
We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded both the Bronze and Silver Eco Awards for our school this term. Miss Alberts along with Year 5 led the rest of the school to gain this ecological award. Our Eco Warriors have regular meetings and talked to the whole school about how we can continue to improve our environment.
Well done everyone - let's keep up the good work and we may get the most prestigious award which is a Green Flag!
Every class has visited the Shipley Art Gallery to continue to promote the 'Arts' within school. The children have learnt about pattern, chairs, clay modelling and looked at the art works in the Gallery itself. The children all enjoyed their visits and learnt a lot!
The children had a fantastic day when taking part in the Mini Olympics. They had to take part in many different activities which was a great way to keep fit and be healthy. We're sure there are a few stars out there who may become 'great athletes'.
At the start of Healthy School Week we walked to school. We walked from the Dryden Centre on Monday 2nd June and Tuesday 3rd June and on Wednesday we started our 'Walking Bus'. This was so successful we have decided to continue every Wednesday until the end of Term.
Reception Class enjoyed showing the rest of the school everything they had learnt about Pentecost. They read, sang and acted and put their message across very well. Well Done Reception.
As it was St George's Day yesterday we have put 2 diffrent jigsaws onto the web for you to try! Have fun!
We are delighted to show the high priority we place on the development of culture and our continued commitment to the Arts within school, demonstrated by our Artsmark Gold achievement, by taking the whole school to see 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' at the Sunderland Empire on 30th April 2008 - Free of charge!

We hold this event to share all the hard work the children have been doing in class linked to Easter. This year as well as the eggs decorated at home there were cards, candles, pots, baskets, pop up chicks, boxes and much more - not forgetting the wonderful Easter bonnets traditionally made by our Year 6 children.
We opened on Wednesday night and Thursday morning so that as many parents as possible could see the wonderful crafts made by their children. Thank you to everyone who came.
The Easter raffle winners were - Alice Y5, Jack Y3 and Melissa Y2. Congratulations to all!
Thank you to all children who entered an egg in the Decorated egg competition. The standard this year was absolutely outstanding. You're all so creative! It was an unbelievably difficult task to choose winners, but eventually decisions were made.
The lucky winners from each class received an Easter egg and everyone who entered an egg received a lolly!
