Chicktastic!

IMG_9267.JPG IMG_9270.JPGThe children came into school this morning to be greeted by the sight of our first arrival from the Living Eggs programme!

Chick number 1 (name suggestions welcome - we think it's a boy) arrived early on this morning and was just beginning to find its way around the incubator in time for breakfast club to witness. After that followed a hatching frenzy with another hatching before lunch (a girl this time) then two more hatched before hometime! (Still a bit early to see what kind these ones are!) When the children left to go home, there were another 2 chicks 'pipping' which means they should arrive within a few hours.

As expected the children have been very excited to greet our new arrivals and can't wait until they are transferred to the brooder box and will be strong enough to be held. The draw for the lucky family to take them home will take place tomorrow, many thanks to all who offered.
