The start of the new school year has brought about some exciting new opportunities for our children in music.
Year 4 and Year 5 are learning to play the violin with lessons being led by Mrs Porter and supported by Mrs Brand and Mrs Hutchinson respectively. The children have really enjoyed their lessons so far and have developed secure styles to hold their violins and are already starting to play simple tunes on them!
Year 3 are continuing to learn to play the recorder, building on the skills they acquired in Year 2 with current Year 2 already starting to develop their musicianship skills in order to start learning to play the same instrument later on in the year.
Year 6, Year 1 and Reception are also receiving specialist music teaching throughout the year (led by Mrs Porter and supported by the class teachers) so by July 2009 we should have a lot of talented musicians in our school!
Year 4 enjoying their violin lesson, learning how to play on 3 different strings!
Year 2 singing and acting out their song about Autumn leaves
