On Wednesday the 2nd of July Year 2 accompanied by Miss Heal, Mrs Crawley, Mrs Daly, Mrs Hearne, Miss Gray and Jonathan Burn all travelled to Whitehouse farm in Northumberland. We had an excellent day and saw lots of lovely animals, we fed them, petted them and even held some of them! The weather was kind to us and everyone enjoyed themselves!
Our day began with some play on the adventure playground, we climbed, balanced, rode and swung!

Swing Low Swing High - Tom nearly took off!

We enjoyed climbing up the wall and ladders then zooming back down the slide!
"Who's that trip trapping across my bridge?" asked Adam angrily. "Only Ella and Kane!" they shrieked.

Luke's so tall he got stuck in the tyre, Mrs Crawley to the rescue! He decided the horse would be a better choice of ride.

We then had to get on a tractor trailer and were in for a VERY bumpy ride - hold on tight now!

We all survived and Julie, our guide led us round to feed the bigger animals on the farm. We were all surprised to be joined by a Pygmy goat! He was very friendly though and Joseph led the way to friendship by stroking him first.
The cows soon started letting us know that they were hungry and several brave children (and grown ups!) held out their hands to feed them just like Julie had shown us...
...but that little Pygmy was a determined little fella and demanded we fed him too!
Next up came the goats - Billy's and all. Julie told us how the Billy goats make themselves attractive to the female goats. (It's a bit too rude to publish on here so you'll have to ask the children what she said!)

That black goat was HUGE!
We then went to meet the llamas they were very big but pleased to see us (or at least our feed!) It was great to see the children being so kind and brave at the same time. One of them even tried to lick Aidan's cheek but the camera wasn't quick enough to catch it!
Finally it was lunch time and peace descended on the group - not for long obviously.
After lunch it was time to meet the smaller animals on the farm, although none of us expected what was to follow! First we met the tortoise - he liked to wee a lot and just missed our feet! Then we met a Boa Constrictor and were all glad it was in a sealed tank! Then we saw a cage full of mice. Shuddering grown ups ahoy...

...but that was nothing comparetd to the next animal - or monster some might say that we met. Out came Savannah the spider - Miss Heal quickly left the circle and turned on the camera's strongest zoom. Savannah is a tarantuala and has a huge body and very long, very hairy legs. The children - and grown ups were understandably wary...
...but not for long, lots of the children were very brave and stroked her! (Only Mrs D was brave enough amongst the grown ups!)
Thankfully the next animals looked a little more friendly! Baby rabbits, aah.
Baby mice came next - one left a "present" for Adam!
Then Julie decided to have some fun and give our hats another use! This time, one of the mice left a wetter present for Tom - good job he had his hat on! How many mice can you count?!
We then met Lenny the Lizard and a Chinese water dragon - it didn't breathe fire though so we were perfectly safe!

The final animal we met was a big long slithery (and quite grumpy) snake - he felt very soft and smooth!

On our way out we passed a skunk (who had his smell taken out thankfully!) and a rather large Iguana.
We had a fantastic day, everyone enjoyed themselves and experienced a wide range of different things. Thank you Whitehouse farm!
At the end of a long day where lots of fun was had, it was a bit too much for one little girl, sleep tight Abbey!
